Aren’t you tired of our President making a fool of himself? He’ll be sure to crank it up even further after the results of the mid-term elections. So don’t get cozy. In the meantime, I think it’s way past time to make our educational system do what it’s mandated to do “EDUCATE US” like in the “School House Rock” days. A creative, admirable, an,d innovative attempt to teach us how our Government works without putting us to sleep. They did still parrot some of the old half-truths and distortions about our country’s history, but, as I said, a worthy example of change.
It was ridiculous to watch government officials, media hosts, and legal experts ask the question, “Can the President overturn the 14th Amendment with just an Executive Order?” An ignorant population is easy to manipulate. You can’t just wipe out an Amendment. If that were the case, Constitutional Amendments would be up for grabs every time a new person sat in that only for two terms seat.
That flippant remark by Trump to strip citizenship from people who were born of illegal parents ignorant. When asked by a reporter, Trump said, “THEY” said he could get rid of it with an Executive Order. The 14th Amendment says:
“All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and the State wherein they reside.”
No lawyer in his or her right mind would tell a President they could sign a constitutional Amendment away. Wouldn’t you think a President would know just a little bit about the Constitutional process before they got the job?
My little doggie knows more about it. “I have a right to be fed and not left in a hot car in Arizona 114-degree heat. And, if you do that, you go to jail.” But, pay attention, this is not the first time, nor will it be the last attempt to do away with the 14th Amendment. “THEY” will do whatever it takes to get they’re way.
It’s one thing to bring Roe v. Wade before the Supreme Court again and get a new ruling depending on who’s sitting in those seats but, an Amendment isn’t that easy. Can a President wake up one morning and decide the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote, should be written off the books by a signature? Can a President determine that three separate branches of government are unnecessary? Will the descendants of African slaves be regulated to picking cotton again?
Ask, “Siri.”
I’m not saying I had a ready answer to that question either. I had to ask. The clip of Trump wasn’t in real-time, so someone decided to pull together a “juicy” segment. When we heard that comment from Trump, and we were educated on the constitutional process,s our reaction would have been, “Boy, please.”
From the start, I was of the mind that Trump was just a goofy cover-up for what the “THEY” was doing in the back rooms of power. While we’re busy being dazzled by a circus act, “THEY” are meticulously erasing our fundamental rights. How is that possible? It’s because we’ve been brainwashed.
We don’t need experts anymore. It learns our preferences and how we like to get our information just like the “Nest” my husband installed to regulate the air cooling and heating system. It learns how to adjust the temperature to our liking and what time we like it. Put it in “Away” mode, and it allows the house to get just a little warmer to cut down energy use.
We’ve got a robot vacuum acquires information about the parameters of your home. Just turn it on and let it roll. As our houses and devices get smarter,r we get dumber. I kid you not. I asked Siri to define the word “dumb.” Siri pulled up this for me.
Is there another option?
I ‘ve always worked in alternative media except for my short time with PCWorld Egypt, where you either liked a product based on your experience or not. We read reviews now before we make purchases, or at least most of us do. As readers and listeners, we want someone we trust to help us break down complex information. Perhaps we are giving them too much of our trust.
People have the right to know what’s going on. As a journalist, I was taught to present a balanced piece. The pros and cons are not always possible. Sometimes the other side won’t talk to you. At the very least, you let your audience know you tried. As the writer, or editor and especially the publisher, you slant your article toward your target audience. You need money to keep things going, keep in mind the other side reads your pieces too.
If your audience has right-wing leanings, they want to hear the other side portrayed as the enemy. The hackers of our last Presidential election studied us a long time before they made their move. With a little outside help from the “THEY,” they determined an election.
“Are you going to become a Blogger, Nana?”
I researched how to set up a blog and learned I should pick a niche. A niche? I didn’t even know I needed one. I thought you set the blog up and wrote what you wanted to. For weeks I tormented myself trying to come up with a niche. Finally, I decided to write about what I want to write about and leave it there. So that you know my blog is biased. I do want to hear other opinions, but the software gives me the option to remove any nasty posts. But, if I want to make money, I will need a niche. I didn’t know you could make money doing this. My point is you have to ask questions and educate yourself.
Now, mainstream media is a different kind of animal. It’s the perfect example of what “THEY” want you to accept as the truth. It’s controlled, owned, and operated by them. Both sides make money off Trump. Often both sides are owned by the same corporations. It is not “fake news” as Trump and friends would have you believe it’s controlled news. This “fake news” thing sadly has become a phrase that’s part of our cultural vernacular now. A friend used that phrase the other day, and they’re not even a Trump supporter.
A “free press” is mandated by our constitution. But, now you can’t read a news story on-line without being blocked to become a subscriber to continue to read the article. Well, it can’t pay for itself. I understand that. The truth is you need a lot of cash to run a news operation, and on-line competition has changed the dynamics of where and how people get their information. I am still surprised I see newspapers sold in the grocery store.
The First Amendment to the U. S. Constitution is part of the Bill of Rights that protects our ” freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of assembly, freedom of the press, and right to petition.” The government can’t restrict those things but, the THEY do it on the sly.
Unconsciously or consciously, we all have the power to turn the wheel in the direction of what’s in our best interest if we know what the game is. “THEY” have become masters at it. In the meantime, find your niche, take a stand, and pay attention to the “WHO.”
